16th Nov – Social media and job research

Today we had a lecture about how to use social media to advance your repertoire by using social media, and primarily Linkedin.

The lecturer spoke to us about the importance of using social media to present yourself to companies and organisations who you may want to work for.

I have begun my search on LinkedIn by creating an account and setting it to private whilst I start to develop my profile and search for companies.

Initially I set up some hashtags to follow so that my feed can be of what my job interests would be:Screenshot 2019-01-17 at 10.45.03

I have chosen ones such as #sustainability and #animalrights, so hopefully organisations can pop up on my feed which I am interested in and can connect to.

I am trying to figure out how to use the job search, as the kind of jobs I am interested in is quite specific (animal rights/ environmental campaigns). I have tried to search for things such as sustainable design, however most of the jobs that came up were for architecture:Screenshot 2019-01-17 at 11.42.40I have then tried searching for ‘sustainable arts’ which was again to no avail as I got jobs turning up for museums etc.Screenshot 2019-01-17 at 10.54.30Even then trying to search for ‘animal welfare media’ nothing came up, or for simply ‘photographer’ there was nothing which came up that was to my interest.

I have decided to take to google to search for UK charities that might interest me which I can then search on LinkedIn afterwards.

This search lead me to realise that doing photography of animals at shelters, and found this useful article:searching for jobs(http://woofliketomeet.com/2016/07/so-you-want-to-be-a-photographer-in-an-animal-shelter/)

25th April – more job research

Now I have developed my practice further I thought it would be useful to do some more research into potential jobs now that I have developed my idea of what kind of practice I will go into:
